HOW TO GET TO FAIRNILEE : The Slalom is held where the A707 / A72 Peebles - Selkirk road crosses the River Tweed  about 4 miles from Selkirk. The Ordnance Survey Map reference is Map 73, Ref NT 458326. The closest postcode for sat Nav purposes is TD1 3PP.

FROM EDINBURGH : Take A703 South to Peebles, turn left on to A72 towards Galashiels. About 5 Miles after Walkerburn, follow the A707 towards Selkirk, the Slalom site is another 3 miles or so, where the Road crosses the River Tweed.

FROM GLASGOW : Take M8 to Edinburgh, then follow the ring road til the Peebles exit and follow the first set of instructions. Alternatively, use the A72 Lanark - Galashiels road to Peebles.

FROM CARLISLE & M6 : From Junction 44, follow A7 to Selkirk. At Selkirk Town Centre, carry straight on ( A707 Peebles ) down through the town & across the Ettrick water. About a quarter mile further on, at the T-Junction, turn right (to Peebles ) and follow the road for another 4 miles and the Slalom site is where the road turns right over the River
Tweed.

FROM NEWCASTLE & A1 : Take the new Ring Road round Newcastle ''til you meet the Airport / Jedburgh Exit ( A 696 /
A68 ). Follow this road to Jedburgh. About 6 miles past Jedburgh, turn left on to A699 to Selkirk. Just before Selkirk, turn
right on to A7 through Selkirk and follow previous set of directions from Town Centre.

TestCAMPING :
Camping is available for tents immediately beside the Slalom Site.
If the weather is fair then caravans will also be allowed to use the field but may also use the area beside the old saw mill (control). There will be four portaloos situated in the filed along with a flush toilet in control.

Drinking water is available from the farmyard, please do not disturb the farmer for any other reason.

Toilet facilities will be available in the camping field and next to the control room.
Drinking Water is available from the Farmyard, please do not disturb the Farmer for any other reason.

Camping fees are:
Camping Fees are £2 per person per night and can either be paid at control (where a tag will be issued to be attached to your tent or caravan) or will be collected EARLY on Sunday morning.

Please remember the following:
  • No unnecessary noise at night please.
  • Keep dogs on a lead. No Roadside Parking.
  • NO CAMP FIRES or DIGGING.
  • Rubbish where possible please take your rubbish home with you. We will have bags as well as container for recyclables (glass and cans) placed round the Field, please use them. If you need any more please ask at Control.
  • Do not drink the water in the toilets (it is river water).
  • Make an effort to contribute to the local community and use shops services in your area.
HEALTH AND SAFETY: 
All accidents or incidences should be reported to the control room. A first aid official will be on site during the competition and a basic first aid kit will be available in control. If you need any more help, the closest emergency facilities are available at the Borders General Hospital near Melrose. Police telephone numbers are Galashiels 01896 752222 or Selkirk 01750 721701.

Children, particularly under 16, must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the time they are at the event. WLCC will not assume responsibility or be liable for child who is unaccompanied or unsupervised.

Canoeing & Kayaking are "assumed risk" - "water contact sports" that may carry attendant risks. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.

BOATS & EQUIPMENT:
All boats and equipment must comply with current BCU requirements. All paddlers must wear their own bib or one supplied by WLCC during their official runs.

LATE ENTRIES:
Late entries will be accepted on Friday evening between 18:00 and 20:00, or Saturday morning after 08:30, but to avoid unnecessary admin work during these times it would be appreciated if all entries could be submitted by post prior to the event.

ENTRY FEES :
Entry fees are as per the slalom yearbook for the divisional event. Anyone entering the Junior or Veteran Championships who compete at a level higher than Div 2 will be charged a single Div 2 entry fee (£9 for a Junior and £11.50 for a Veteran).
Unless otherwise stated we will assume that anyone entering the Div2/3 event on Saturday as a Junior, Vet or DV will also be competing in the National Junior 16 and Veteran Championships.
